What's a Bold-like Shapeshooter?
Glad you were likely to ask! I call this game a Bold-like because I was incredibly inspired by the roguelite arena shooter Overbold from the UFO50 collection. It's one of my most played games and I'm terrible at coming up with ideas, so i figured "why don't I just switch up the theme, twist up the main idea, and call it a genre?!"
The game is lovingly referred to as a shapeshooter because I can't draw sprites for the life of me, so I decided to use a bunch of math to generate some!
This is my first game ever.
Be the best shape.
I've got bad news! You're gonna have to fight up to 15 different enemy types all at once, at varying amounts which is cool, but for 100 rounds. These intelligent basic shapes strive for your demise, and their synergistic yet unique abilities will turn you into a paranoid trigger-happy victim of gangstalking!

3 examples of the 15 enemy classes...
GHOST: This swiftly-moving blue square will run you down like a pitbull, cleverly ducking under your bullets as it sprints into your face!
DODGER: The orange triangle will constantly surprise you with it's side-to-side juking abilities!
SENTRY: These hefty purple circles like to teleport around you at random-intervals. In large amounts, you can't even tell which circle is telegraphing the next destination!
Thankfully, you're the Hexgun, and your abilities overcome any situation. With enough practice, you'll be able to jump over shapes, slo-mo your way past bullets, and even punch enemies square in the face.
Get rich, die strong!
The game's difficulty depends on how bold you're feeling. Every game starts the same way: You shoot 2 random enemy types to earn 100. Every round from that point starts with one card on a table, representing an enemy type that will spawn in the next round + how many there will be. Before the next round, you can spend your bucks to purchase up to 18 upgrades (36 planned)! Or you could save some money by putting another card on the table and charging in with whatever you currently have!

It'll take some smart betting to make real money, and some practice to learn which upgrades make things easiest for you... Most upgrades have anywhere from 2 to 6+ tiers! In each playthrough, you'll customize your own class completely from scratch.

Eventually we will move to the 1.0 beta, where the minimum price will be $5.00 and I will focus on writing Story Mode plus features outside of the core game loop, such as Multiplayer, Challenge Mode, Achievements, and more. Oh and the official soundtrack is already in the works. It's gonna be implemented in a reeeeally cool way.
